Survey on Operating Systems for the Applications of the Internet of Things

Abstract

At present, there is a large variety of applications where internet of things plays a vital role, not only supporting all fields of life but also rapidly developing due to progress in smart things technology. Software framework especially operating systems are in great demand to grease the wheels of the internet of things. In this paper main subject is the operating system from the internet of things perspective. In this paper, we have surveyed current operating systems which are basically supporting the applications of the internet of things. The purpose of this survey is to highlight major concerns pertaining to OS design in IoT by keeping in mind the requirements of emerging IoT applications. Survey parameters are actually the current requirements of the internet of things. Keywords: Embedded systems, internet of things (IoT), Multithreading, Standalone systems, Machine to Machine.
